About Nrithyoham

Nrithyoham
Center for Indian Classical Dance

Nrithyoham is a premier institution dedicated to preserving, promoting, and propagating the rich heritage of Indian classical dance through authentic Guru-Shishya Parampara training.

Founded in 2013 by renowned Kuchipudi artiste Chandralekha Ratheesh, Nrithyoham has become a vibrant centre of excellence in Chennai, nurturing dancers with a strong foundation in tradition, discipline, and artistic excellence.

Students receive systematic and personalized training in Kuchipudi following the illustrious Vempati Chinna Satyam bani, and Bharatanatyam through a structured Guru-Shishya learning approach. The curriculum integrates technical mastery, rhythm, abhinaya, theoretical knowledge, physical conditioning, yoga, and stagecraft.

More than 200 students have trained at Nrithyoham, with many earning recognition through prestigious cultural festivals, government scholarship programmes, national-level competitions, CCRT Junior Scholarship achievements, Rangapravesam presentations, and continued higher studies or professional careers in classical dance.

Through dance festivals, workshops, lecture demonstrations, national seminars, art appreciation programmes, community outreach initiatives, and its flagship initiative Prayukti, Nrithyoham creates meaningful platforms for artists and audiences while preserving the authenticity of India's performing arts.

Guided by the philosophy that classical dance is both an art and a way of life, Nrithyoham strives to cultivate accomplished performers as well as disciplined, culturally rooted, and socially responsible individuals.
